Who Is Harper Lee?
Harper Lee is a famous author that published many novels and her first is “To Kill A Mockingbird” which became an international bestseller and was adopted into screen in 1962. She was born in Monroe, Alabama, which was the same setting or country as the novel. Her father was a former newspaper editor and proprietor, plus he had served as a state senator and a practice lawyer. Harper Lee studied law at the University of Alabama from 1945 to 1949 and spent a year as an exchange student in Oxford University. Her first novel had a lot of thought into it like the name Finch was her mother’s maiden name, the character Dill was drawn from Capote who was Lee’s childhood friend, and the trial was paralleled to the “Scottsboro Trial” which was an African American male being accused of raping a white woman. Today she avoids interviewers and stays away from the public but her book became a legend and its always being acknowledged.
